Overview

The Competition and Anti-Monopoly Unit ensures that the university's contracting and procurement take place in a fair, competitive environment that gives suppliers and contractors equal opportunity, in keeping with Iraq's competition and anti-monopoly law. It watches for any practices that restrict competition or lead to monopoly and reports them through official channels.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing the terms of announcements and tenders to ensure they do not restrict competition or favour a particular party.
  • Following award procedures to verify equal opportunity among bidders and transparency in their evaluation.
  • Detecting cases of collusion, price-fixing or bid-sharing and reporting them.
  • Raising awareness of the competition and anti-monopoly law among the committees and staff involved in contracting.
  • Preparing periodic reports on competition in the university's contracts and submitting them to the university presidency.
  • Coordinating with the authorities responsible for competition and anti-monopoly matters on cases referred to them.
