- Bachelor
- Duration
- 4 years
- Study mode
- Morning & evening
Overview
The Department of Building and Construction Techniques Engineering prepares technical engineers to design, build and supervise structures — from buildings to roads, bridges, and water and drainage works.
Students study engineering drawing, surveying, soil mechanics, properties of construction materials, structural analysis, and the design of reinforced-concrete and steel structures, together with construction methods, cost estimation, project management and engineering design software.
Practical training takes place in the materials and soil testing laboratories and on construction projects during summer training, so that engineering calculation is matched by first-hand knowledge of the site.
Vision
To be known for graduates who combine engineering precision with site experience, helping to build Iraq and its infrastructure to high and lasting standards.
Mission
To provide engineering-technology education in structural design, construction methods, project management and materials testing that links theory to the laboratory and the site, preparing engineers committed to specifications, safety and professional ethics.
Objectives
- Prepare technical engineers to design, build and supervise structures.
- Train students to test and control the quality of building materials and soils to specification.
- Develop proficiency in engineering software for drafting, analysis and design.
- Build skills in cost estimation, scheduling and project management.
- Promote site safety and sustainable construction.
Career prospects
- Contractors, property developers and engineering consultancies.
- Engineering departments of ministries, provincial and municipal authorities.
- Construction materials and soil testing laboratories.
- Site supervision of buildings, roads, bridges and infrastructure projects.
- Project management, cost estimation and bills of quantities.
