Department of Power Mechanics

College of Engineering Technology

Degree
Bachelor
Duration
4 years
Study mode
Morning & evening

Overview

The Department of Power Mechanics Techniques Engineering deals with systems that generate, transmit and convert power: power stations, engines and turbines, compressors and pumps, refrigeration and air-conditioning, and renewable-energy technologies.

Students study thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, machine design and computer-aided drawing, then apply them to power plants, internal-combustion engines, air-conditioning systems, and solar and wind energy.

Hands-on training in the college’s workshops and laboratories covers operation, maintenance and measurement, complemented by summer training in power stations and factories, so that graduates can run mechanical equipment and improve its efficiency.

Vision

To produce technical engineers the energy and industrial sectors can rely on to operate, develop and improve the efficiency of mechanical systems.

Mission

To prepare technical engineers skilled in thermal, fluid and machine sciences and their applications in power generation, refrigeration, air-conditioning and renewable energy, through practical teaching focused on operation, maintenance, energy efficiency and occupational safety.

Objectives

  • Prepare engineers to operate and maintain power systems and machinery.
  • Train students in refrigeration, air-conditioning and ventilation systems.
  • Introduce renewable-energy technologies and energy conservation.
  • Develop diagnostic, measurement and preventive-maintenance skills.
  • Link study to power stations and industry through field training.

Career prospects

  • Public and private power-generation plants.
  • Refineries, oil companies and gas facilities.
  • Factories and production lines, in operation and maintenance.
  • Refrigeration, air-conditioning and building ventilation companies.
  • Solar and other renewable-energy projects.
  • Engine and heavy-equipment maintenance workshops.
